Frank Biamonte, CFO

E-Com Accounting Solutions

After graduating from Seneca College in Toronto Canada with an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Ken started his career in engineering, designing and building digital sub-systems using embedded controllers.  After working as a research associate for the department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Toronto, Ken joined a small engineering company located in Markham, Ontario.  That company merged with a US based startup company designing pen-based devices.  It was at this time that Ken relocated to Portland, Oregon in the Pacific Northwest where he continued to work in integration engineering for the next five years.

“Living in Portland for almost ten years exposed me to new friends and appreciation of the outdoors”, stated Ken. During his time in Portland, his career path diverted slightly from engineering. It was here that he started his IT life after spending time as the main system administrator, maintaining UNIX engineering workstations and managing a Novell 3.11 file server.

Prior to joining E-Com as a Technician, Ken also worked as a network specialist managing and maintaining a data-centre and software development environment for a company in Seattle.  Prior to that he was an Internetworking Engineer at Intel.  “Ken’s impressive education and varied experiences are a great fit for E-Com and our customers”, stated Frank Biamonte, CFO of E-Com.

Ken, a self-proclaimed “computer and gadget geek”, currently lives in Markham, a suburb of Toronto.  He brought his love of the outdoors back to Canada with him and in his spare time plays volleyball competitively and enjoys dragon boating*.

* Dragon boating is a team paddling sport. It’s one of the fastest growing sports in North America.

RedTail Solutions, Inc., the leading provider of integrated electronic trading solutions, takes middle-market suppliers beyond EDI compliance and enables them to aggressively compete in today's global supply chain.

RedTail Solutions provides an out of the box integrated EDI solution without costly, custom programming, for users of Sage BusinessVision and other middle-market accounting systems for manufacturing and distribution based businesses. By incorporating a standard direct, seamless integration, the RedTail Transaction Manager™ enables suppliers to process their purchase orders easily and routinely, without any manual or duplicate key entry of information, and then send the purchase orders directly to their accounting system. Invoices and shipping information that are generated within the accounting system are automatically routed back through the RedTail Transaction Manager™ and to RedTail’s servers where they are transformed and forwarded on to the corresponding trading partner.

Unlike other "integrated" solutions, RedTail accounting interfaces automatically validate product description and shipping data and internal pricing rules, creating cross-references where necessary to maintain the integrity of the client’s accounting systems and database. Transactions receive a second level of validation as they pass through RedTail’s servers to dramatically reduce error levels in transactions. Finally, RedTail’s service includes automatic updates for accounting interfaces as well as trading partner requirements at no additional cost.  Addiitonally, the RedTail Transaction Manager™ enables the transfer and processing of both inbound and outbound EDI documents.

RedTail's solutions are delivered via Software as a Service (SaaS) platform that integrates seamlessly with middle-market to enterprise back office systems. This cost-effective platform eliminates transaction errors, reduces penalties for non-compliance and streamlines business processes. Manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors connect and trade through a single integrated solution with key customers and third-party logistics providers in warehousing and transportation.

RedTail's solutions incorporate global standards into a single interface for managing electronic data interchange (EDI), global data synchronization (GDS) and radio frequency identification (RFID) to meet rapidly evolving market requirements and industry initiatives.

There has been a lot of news lately about Microsoft’s recently released Windows Vista, the new desktop computer operating system designed to replace Windows XP.  Although it’s only a matter of time before you will need to move to Vista, our team at E-Com strongly recommends holding off as long as possible.

Windows Vista is not yet a supported platform for many software companies, including Sage Software.  In fact, any issues arising as a result of running Vista will not be supported by Sage until they can offer full support for Vista.  Sage strongly recommends that you do not install Windows Vista on machines which use Sage software, or any of its third party products until the Vista operating system is certified.

The problem is that computer manufacturers are now shipping machines that have Vista preinstalled on them.  By late fall, these manufacturers will no longer offer Windows XP as an operating system.  If you need new  workstations, we recommend purchasing them now with Windows XP before it is no longer available.  It’s imperative that you do not simply begin adding workstations to your organization that have Windows Vista without having performed the necessary due diligence and planning.

Every organization needs to be cautious in making the transition from Windows XP to Vista.  You will want to ensure that any possible disruption to your business is minimized and your critical applications are not adversely affected. You’ll want to ensure changes to your business computing systems are planned, tested and implemented.  Make sure the software versions being utilized by your company are compatible with Vista before any upgrades of operating systems, or new Vista machines, are installed on your network.

We strongly encourage you to contact E-Com before moving to Windows Vista.
